About me

I'm Bob. I've been in IT my entire career, but for the past 25 years I've focused on Information Security and applying managerial, operational and technical safeguards.

My roots are in applications and systems programming, networks, database, operations and infrastructure. Those foundations have served me well through my security travels as they represent a big slice of things that require security attention. I believe the most effective security personnel are those with a working understanding of the technologies underpinning the assets and operations requiring protection.

You can my see some of my information security experiences, skills, and credentials elsewhere on the site. If you've come this far, the navigation must be working ;)

With IaC (infrastructure-as-code) now fundamental to effective security automation of cloud platforms and a frequent component of IaaS DevOps I am finding my programming and scripting foundations more relevant than ever. Who knew? It's an exciting time to be in the security space.

About this site

Hosted on AWS as a static S3 site which is the origin for an AWS Cloudfront CDN distribution, directed there from AWS Route 53 hosted DNS. I leverage a content security policy to acheive an A+ security rating on Mozilla Observatory. Mail service provided by AWS Workmail.

I did it this way to keep my AWS skills up and I definitely didn't need more WordPress interactions. I like it best on a desktop/laptop fully expanded, but I did get possibly too cute with how I handle both mobile and non-full screen resolutions. Something you might experience by experimenting. If an excuse is needed, one could be that I didn't use any dev tool for this such as React, Angular, Vue, etc. It's just plain html and Javascript built with the help of Visual Studio Code for editing.
